As the university’s largest and most ambitious academic building to date, the Schoenecker Center brings together the arts, sciences, and engineering under one roof to foster collaboration and innovation.

Empirehouse played a key role in shaping the building’s visual identity and performance through custom architectural glass and metal solutions. Our scope included the design and installation of fire-rated and acoustical windows, high-performance curtain wall systems, aluminum storefronts, and detailed interior glass partitions.

One of the project’s standout features—the four-story grand staircase—was brought to life with sleek glass partitions and custom metal handrails, showcasing our team’s precision, planning, and craftsmanship.

What began as a bold vision to meet the growing healthcare needs of south-central Minnesota became a historic transformation for Mayo Clinic Health System. The Tower Expansion in Mankato redefined the regional landscape of care—adding 121 hospital beds through a three-story vertical addition to an active facility, and delivering a new standard of patient experience, comfort, and capacity. At the heart of this complex project, Empirehouse played a key role in bringing the building’s striking exterior to life—balancing innovation, precision, and collaboration at every step.

With a century-long legacy of excellence in healthcare, Marshfield Clinic Health System expanded its commitment to comprehensive care through the addition of its Cancer Care Building in Eau Claire, WI. Empirehouse played a key role in bringing this cutting-edge facility to life through expert glazing, metalwork, and innovative solutions.

This 36,000 SF project features inside-set frames, panels, and glass systems, designed to enhance both performance and aesthetics. Notably, Empirehouse installed a high-performance thermal composite pressure-wall system with clear insulated glass and decorative laminated glass to reflect the building’s modern design.

When unexpected discrepancies in precast dimensions threatened timelines, Empirehouse responded swiftly, adjusting frame dimensions on-site to maintain precision and progress—underscoring the team’s agility, craftsmanship, and collaborative spirit.

The project was successfully coordinated using BIM 360 Glue, allowing for a fully modeled digital environment prior to physical construction—streamlining installation, minimizing risk, and increasing project efficiency.

Surgical and Critical Care Pavilion Skyway

Empirehouse played a key role in delivering the new Allina Health Surgical Care Pavilion Skyway at the Abbott Northwestern Hospital—a 435’8” structure that connects the Purple Parking Ramp to the Minnesota Heart Institute Clinic. Suspended 168 feet above 28th Street in a busy urban setting, this custom-designed skyway supports the critical path of the hospital’s ongoing campus revitalization, scheduled for full completion in 2026.

Empirehouse collaborated closely with HGA, Mortenson, and key trade partners, including LeJeune Steel and DCCI, to design and deliver a high-performance skyway structure that integrates seamlessly into the existing hospital system.

Lakewood Garden Mausoleum

Built into a hillside to preserve the cemetery’s pastoral character, the Lakewood Garden Mausoleum features an elegantly simple, granite-clad design that quietly integrates with the landscape. The 24,000-square-foot, two-level structure includes six crypt rooms, six columbaria rooms, three family crypt rooms, a committal room, and support spaces.

Natural light filters through bronze metal curtainwall, slim-slotted windows, and ground-level skylights, creating a serene, contemplative space for those grieving. Inside, skylights and lantern windows enhance the connection between the spiritual and the earthly. The mausoleum’s three horizontally oriented pods, clad in gray granite and white mosaic marble, reflect the historic family mausoleums found throughout the cemetery.

Widely regarded as one of the finest constructed projects in Minnesota, the mausoleum showcases exceptional craftsmanship and material quality throughout. Empirehouse sourced premium materials and delivered custom bronze and glass elements for the curtainwall, doors, and windows—ensuring a final result that is both contemporary and complementary to its surroundings.
