James Bringle Retires

After more than 40 years of leadership, General Manager James Bringle retires. Bringle’s remarkable career with Empirehouse began in 1984 when he joined the company during a challenging job market. Starting in the drafting department, he quickly demonstrated a visionary mindset and a natural leadership ability. Over time, Bringle helped shape several of Empirehouse’s core departments and processes, most notably by spearheading the separation of sales and estimating from project management—a strategic shift that significantly enhanced operational efficiency and positioned the company for sustained growth. He also led the development of an innovative Access-based estimating and project management system that served as a vital tool for Empirehouse for many years. His impact reached across nearly every department, mentoring and training many of today’s company leaders. Upon being promoted to General Manager, Bringle oversaw all facets of the business and played a vital role in guiding Empirehouse through a smooth generational transition, serving as a trusted link between the company’s second and third generations of family ownership.

Throughout his career, Bringle contributed to many of the region’s most iconic construction projects. One of the most memorable was the Lakewood Mausoleum, a highly customized design-assist effort that helped elevate Empirehouse’s position in the market. “I’ve always enjoyed working through the details, collaborating with architects and contractors to bring their vision to life,” Bringle said. “That project really helped define a new way of doing work for us.”

Bringle has also been a key voice for the glazing industry beyond Empirehouse. He served on the international board for the Finishing Trades Institute, led the Twin Cities Glass Association for over a decade, and contributed to local and international training initiatives for glazing apprentices.

As a respected senior leader, Bringle has been preparing for his transition for the past several years to ensure a seamless handoff. “I wanted to make sure I could walk away knowing everything was in good hands—and it is,” he said. “Our leadership team, including Chief Operating Officer Trent Johnson, is more than capable of continuing to build upon the foundation we’ve set together.”

Bringle leaves behind a lasting legacy of innovation, mentorship, and visionary leadership. “This has been more than just a job,” he reflected. “Empirehouse became my career, my passion, and my family. I’m proud to have been part of its journey and excited for what comes next.” In retirement, he looks forward to quality time with family at their cabin near Itasca State Park, exploring new destinations like Greece and Spain, and spending winters in Sarasota, Florida—all while embracing the next chapter with the same enthusiasm he brought to his career.
